I have cross country 3:00-5:30 every day, meets last 4:00-7:30, and on Saturdays, 7:00 AM-1:00 PM. At 7:00-9:00PM on weekdays I have martial arts class. I have to maintain my straight A's and I am also first chair first violin for my High school Orchestra. I only have Sundays to practice. Do you have any advice on other times to practice? |

I need help with the different clefs in some of the sheet music... I'm trying to play the viola part on my violin for the "Vampire Lestat" music on this site and I've never read music which uses a C clef before. Do I read the music the same as if there were a treble clef or would shifting be required?

| THIS IS FOR MARA: Mara, I know what you're going through. Being a first chair isn't at all hard. You just have too be confident on the emotional side. But on the physical side, you need to show that you can be the best first chair as possible and that you can take the responsibility, and you probably will, I know it. But being first chair doesn't mean that you're suppose to be the best of the rest, it just shows leadership and confidence. Hope this helped! Good luck! |

Dear Ben, I have been taking playing tests recently in Orchestra, and my teacher said that after four, he will add up our scores and place us by stand. Now On the first test I scored 97/100 and on the second test I scored 99/100. Now we have two more tests, but my teacher said that it is very likely I'll be placed first stand. First Chair, First Violin, First Time! YIKES!!! Any helpful hints for concerts for a newcomer? Thanks Ben!!!1 |

| In memory for those who have died in the WT C on the most devastating day of American history. This is a tribute for the date September 11, 2001. We'll never forget this day, the victims of the Islamic-extremists, and the heroes of FDNY. This is why we are at war, for our freedom, religious freedom, and for those who died on 9/11. THEY are paying the price big time. |

| Thanks for the comments so far! For licensing reasons, we can't distribute our physical CD outside of the U.S. and Canada, but I have enabled an online version that you can stream through your ChamberHymns account. Please check out the CD ordering page (CD in the menu above) and scroll down to about the middle of the page to find it. And thanks in advance for your support -- it's extremely appreciated!! |

Hey Ben! I hope everything is perfect in life for you! I haven't bought a CD yet, but if I did, I think, in reward, you can give the buyer more VP, maybe 50. You can also let people who are out of the country order the the physical CD and not just a digital. Despite the fact that I really want Ashokan Farewell, maybe you can put up one of the sheet music that has the Facebook fans requirement on the download sheet without the requirement. Some of them are up there for a pretty long time! Thanks!

| I don't have a facebook account, so I have no other way of asking this question. I was wondering if I'm able to purchase a digital copy of your CD that I can download. I currently live out of the states, and all though I do have an APO, a customs form still has to be filled out. Thank you for your time. |

Hi! When you have your next CD sale please make us who lives outside of the USA to be able to buy a real CD and not a digital one, but if you can't do that please try and do so that we can download them to our computers.
And about the bonus if you buy a CD I think it would be good with maybe a few special sheet music that people want to have or get more VP |

| Shannon -- I agree with Cynthia 100%. I have a friend who started cello when she was 12 or 13, and now she's a graduate of Yale and has won some international competitions. She is wholeheartedly dedicated to her music, which is key to becoming a professional. Practicing is the secret to building technique, but your heart ultimately determines if you can become a professional! |

| SHANNON, believe it or not I started playing violin when I was eleven and that was just a couple of years ago. I started to have private lessons at the age of 13. Yes, the training and ESPECIALLY how much you dedicate yourself towards the violin, counts a whole lot. So, it doesn't matter what age you start. To answer your question, you can totally be a professional. Dedication, determination, and some good training will get you to be a good player. Someday, you might play with your eyes closed.. |

Hello Ben and Cynthia, I'm very committed to my training as a violinist. Though whats been keeping me in doubt of what level I will be able to achieve is how old you're supposed to start at. I heard a great level that most of the "masters" have started from age 7. I started at 11, and let's just say it wasn't a good start. I know it's how you're trained that counts but in my case, I don't have much. I'm barely starting private lessons, but my main question is can I still be a professional? |

I fixed My problem with viewing sheet music in pdf files. if you are also having problems opening and/or viewing music Download "Foxit Reader". it is free and works nicely. |

THIS IS FOR LEONARDO D.: Sorry if Ben can't reach you, but I'm usually the one who responds to users questions. Yes, you MUST HAVE a shoulder rest. It will GREATLY IMPROVE your playing. Without it, you can not shift to higher notes, can't do vibrato, or glissando, and you might not even be able to hold your violin just by using your shoulder and your neck. With it you'll be able to do all of the above & do lots of things with it. I recommend Christino for beginners, Kuns for the higher levelers |

| Hello! I've just started to play violin by myself, so I want to ask about the shoulder acessory: is this necessary for playing better? Can I do some tricks like vibratto and glissandos without it? |

| Hey Ben! I hope everything is going just splendid for you and your family. I have a question for you to ask, if you have time to answer it. I never really paid attention to my ranking, but I just noticed that my rank number goes down every certain amount of VP I get. When it goes down, is it good? Why does it go down and sometimes it goes up? |

| Cynthia -- first off, thanks so much for addressing the comments of others, very helpful! Sometimes I put FB fan requirements for the ones that take longer to transcribe. It allows me enough time to get the transcription done amidst all the other Saturday activities that I have, which have unfortunately been much more with a wife and kid! :) Thanks for your patience! |
