News: Introducing the Musician's Vault! Due to a recent surge on Ben's YouTube account, we have launched a subscription-based program featuring our expertise in both music (violin/piano) and technology in the form of high-quality videos. Concert at the Covey Center for the Arts! We performed on January 11th, 2008 at 7:30pm in Provo, UT. We signed autographs and sold CDs, and it was a very pleasant evening overall! He has recently been involved with music and is scheduled to attend our concert at the Covey Center for the Arts! Doug Wright Show (102.7 FM / 1160 AM) Doug Wright, recipient of four Clio Award nominations and nationally recognized for his creative talents, featured our CD on his radio program during the 11am hour. This broadcast was repeated several times during the month of December and was heard by hundreds of thousands of listeners. Appearance with KSL Channel 5! We were recently featured on KSL Channel 5. We met with Brooke Walker and Darin Adams and had a very enjoyable time on their Studio 5 show! Concert on Temple Square! We gave a classical concert in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square. We were very well-received by a sizable audience, and we received a standing ovation for at least 2-3 minutes until we acquiesced to an encore. What a fantastic and memorable experience! Top Violinist at Nationals! Ben placed 1st in the violin division (2nd overall) at the MTNA National Solo Competition held in Austin, TX. Thanks to all who supported him through this event, including his brother Jon (accompanist), parents and family, Brigham Young University, and the Toler family (who housed us for 3 days).     About Us - the Chan Brothers Please login or register!    Photo taken by Robin R. Pulley         Benjamin Chan is the son of David and Stella Chan and originates from Niskayuna, NY. He began playing the violin at age 5 ½ and has studied with Barbara Lapidus, Marianne Pashler, Igor Gruppman, and Monte Belknap. He has performed three complete violin concertos with orchestra: Concerto in D Major by Beethoven, Concerto no. 5 in A minor by Vieuxtemps, and Concerto in D major by Tchaikovsky. In March 2006 he won 2nd prize at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Solo Competition, placing 1st in the violin division. He has traveled to Europe five times, twice as concertmaster and once to participate in the 2005 Tibor Varga International Solo Competition. He has performed in masterclasses for Midori Goto and Joseph Silverstein, and he plays on a violin made in 1761 by Niccolo Gagliano. He and his brother Jonathan are among co-owners of BuilderHelper.com, a web-based construction management program with online bidding, estimating, and scheduling tools for general contractors, sub-contractors, and homeowners. Photo taken by Robin R. Pulley         Jonathan Chan is an entrepreneur with an enduring love of music. He is an accomplished pianist who studied for the majority of his life with Marilyn Taggert. He has won two piano concerto competitions, and has soloed with four orchestras, once performing his own composition. He is an avid composer, having done movie soundtracks for several short films, including the 5-time award-winning Of Genies And Goldfish and the upcoming film noir musical "A Song Before You Die". He also has performed a funk composition with a jazz band. He has written screenplays for published short films and enjoys writing short stories and novels. He is one of the founders and owners of BomToons.com, a website providing contemporary religious-themed video games to a growing internet community, as well as technical director to Woogi World, a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching children how to properly use the internet. He thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to perform and record with his brother Benjamin, and hopes to make a positive impact on the music world with him.
